It seems to have been a day of us versus the volcano today. Not as in eruption but in trying to see it.

Stu and i went for our first early morning walk this morning which was great we have only really been walking with the rest of the tour due to the early starts. Today is a free day so we could take it easy. We walked from our hotel to the Rio Fortuna and had a look at the natural pool which looks very inviting and we would probably go back to if we had more time.
After breakfast we walked around town – I got a picture guide to the animals of Costa Rica and another tank top and we bought shirts for Blake and Malik. Lauren and Elsie are getting necklaces from the turtle conservancy. Just before lunch the volcano cleared enough for us to get a photo of the full thing. Stu also spotted a heron and a bird of the same species we saw yesterday.

We have just had a locals lunch at a restaurant called Taco which seems to be the Costa Rican version of McDonalds with 3 outlets around Costa Rica.
We have just returned from our safari river trip where we floated down the river – we saw a lot of howlers and a sloth – the sloth was not in a position to photograph.
