Day 26 – Monteverde (although I think it’s day 27)

We visited the Monteverde Institute today and a project to rebuild the plant corridor between Monteverde and the Pacific.

The first stop was to spend about 90 minutes helping with the seedlings.  Our group did the weeding first and then we rotated to bagging soil ready for seeds to be planted.

This plot of land has an amazing view down to the Pacific Ocean.

After morning tea we headed to the Monteverde Institute for a lecture in the effort to reforest the land between here and the Pacific.  The interview was very interesting and afterwards we were shown some of their community projects specifically developing cheap ways to treat grey water waste.

After  lunch a group (Matthew, Stephen, Lisa, Marie, Susie, Michael, Stu and I) of us went to the Curi Cancha Reserve for a bit of a hike we saw a couple of coati and aguti as well as a Lesson’s Motmot.  We have just finished and have had a couple of post hike cocktails – yummy pina dacquaries.
