Day 30 – Manuel Antonio – Sea Kyaking

Carte blanche today and we picked to go sea kayaking rather than a catamaran trip we had originally decided to do.  11 of us (Sandy did the catamaran, Michelle went back to the national park for a swim, and English Steve and Yvonne and John did their own thing) were picked up at 8 and taken to pay before being driven to Parque Nahomi to meet our guides Brian and Alecs.  Stu and i were in the same kayak.  We paddled for about an hour along the Pacific coast and saw pelicans and frigate birds along the way to where we were snorkelling.  We got to snorkel for about an hour in life jackets without fins (both points of contention).  I think i got pretty burnt on my head despite sunscreen.

After snorkelling we were taken to Playa Bisang where we had fruits, water and coconut biscuits.  After a brief interlude that included squirrel monkeys, we paddled back and the went to lunch which was part of the tour and was traditional fare (rice and beans).  We have had a slack afternoon (I may have shopped) and are having our final group dinner tonight (6 people aren’t returning to San Jose tomorrow).Thank you Peter for most of the photos.
