Day 2 – Singapore (Sentosa)

Stu drew a blog of our flight yesterday:

The Singapore part of our trip is pretty much well planned as we are trying to fit in everything everyone wants to do in the time that they are here in Singapore with us.  The only thing i didn’t plan or take into account was that this weekend was the Singapore National Day 4 days of holidays where every Singaporean is out and about.  I think they were all at Sentosa today.

Stu and I were up at about 4:30 this morning as we are still running on Brisbane time.  We’d caught up with Linsey and Craig last night for very expensive cocktails by the pool and then gone for a short walk around Little India to stretch our legs.

So this morning before everyone was up we went to the gym then walked around and explored further afield even finding a food court near the hotel to have a Teh at all before 6:30.

We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Serangoon Rd which seems pretty well located with two MRT stations close by.  After we’d all caught up for breakfast it was off to the station to buy MRT passes then off to Harbour Front and Sentosa Island along with a large number of Singaporeans.

We caught the monorail over to Resort World where we went to the SEA Aquarium – we thought the line was long when we went in but by the time we came out people were probably waiting 30-40 minutes to get in.  The acquarium is amazing and huge it took us a while to get around it and by the time we’d finished the morning was gone.

We had lunch at a Malaysian Food Court in front of Universal Studios.  The food was very nice we both had Rendang Nasi Lemak which was very spicy.  As we were all pretty hot gelato was in order before being crammed into the monorail to go to the beach. The beach area was pretty busy none of the bars had tables so Stu, Alison, Dennis and I found a shady place while Linsey and Craig went on the luge.

We were all so hot we ended up taking a taxi back to the hotel to have a swim and cool down.  Stu, Linsey, Craig and i have just come back from Newton Food Court which is pretty touristy but the food (and company) was pretty good.  They had prawns crayfish and i had a really nice take on sweet and sour chicken. We shared some fried rice and satay.
