We have been very adventurous today and basically walked around the riverside of Bangkok from the Palace to Chinatown and even caught a couple of public ferries as well. I will get the fun part over with – at the end of the afternoonStu ate:

So today we decided to hit the waterways and catch the courtesy boat then a ferry to go up river to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho before we went to the flower market to meet up with a tour we were doing called Snacks, Markets and More Tour – The Flower Market to Chinatown.
The Grand Palace is very busy and we didn’t take much notice of the rules. We thought when they said no shorts they meant no boardshorts or running shorts but no it means no shorts. So Stu and I had to buy a 200B pair of fishermans pants each before we were allowed in to buy tickets.

After we were suitably attired we bought tickets (400B each) and went through to the palace – the grounds are full of tourists (including us) all vying for the best selfie spots so it makes it extremely difficult to get a clean photo of anything. The Palace buildings and grounds are immaculate and the whole experience is well worth going through the admission process (if you are stupid enough to dress outside the modesty guidelines.)

From here we had a coffee at the Naval Wives shop to get out of the heat and then walked around to Wat Pho. This temple is beautiful and the reclining buddha is very well maintained. Again lots of people and we got a little sick of shoes on, shoes off, shoes back on so we stopped going into a lot of the temple buildings including the coronation hall.

After we’d finished all this we had about 90 minutes before we had to meet our tour at the Flower Market so we walked to the meeting point. We were about half an hour early so we were prepared for a bit of a wait but as we were the only people on the tour we could start early. Our guide was P and Ta from the office was along for experience.
We had a great time on the tour it was like 4 old friends catching up P and Ta were so friendly. I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Bangkok. It is about 3 hours of walking but you won’t notice the time go by. We tried so much food that we won’t need dinner tonight. We walked through several markets and a couple of old style malls. We visited Little India and ended in Chinatown (Stu is making me go back there as you can buy everything there) and went to the Chinese History Museum. The end of the tour is when Stu tried scorpion. P and Ta even escorted us back down the river to where our shuttle boat could pick us up. What an amazing day and so much food it is hard to write it all down. We even went to Jek Pui Curry from the Netflix show Asian Street Food.

We’ve just come back from Icon next door and had cocktails on the 32nd floor. View was amazing and the cocktail was really delicious – I of course had Coco Chocco. We also found an indoor waterfall in the shopping centre.
