Day 22 – Last Day in Bangkok

We have reached a really sad part of our trip today, we’ve hit the end of our holiday. Tomorrow we start the homeward trip via Singapore and arrive back in Brisbane early Tuesday morning.

We have really loved sharing Singapore with our friends and family, having a week in Koh Samui with Linsey and Craig, Koh Tao despite the weather and the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

To wind things up today Stu and I went to Chatuchak Weekend Market which is on all day Saturday and Sunday.  It is not a tourist market as such but a lot of tourists go.  If you are in Bangkok over a weekend you need to dedicate a day and go out there.  From where we are staying it involved a shuttle boat and 2 Skytrain lines but it was worth the effort.  Aim to get there by 10 as the crowds start building from about 12 and some of the alleys are very narrow (thank you for that piece of advice Lonely Planet). They have everything from vintage clothes and second hand shoes to bathroom sinks.  We ate a nice lunch here is a very chaotic food court. The paintings at the entrance are by one of Stu’s favourite street artists Alex Face.

We caught the train back to National Stadium and walked to this great little place called JP Toy Gallery and have now come back to the hotel (thank you Skytrain for being air conditioned) to start packing – or at least I will Stu is in a bit of denial about finishing the holiday.

Stu has been leaving drawings for housekeeping with the tip. We came home to this today as a thank you.  Stu is so happy.
