Introduction to Photography Lessons

COVID has made travel very interesting. Travelling overseas is not on the books for most Australians and even interstate travel can be very difficult unless you get your timing right.

To try to get ready for when state and international borders get reopened I thought I would buy an entry level DSLR or mirrorless camera and to learn how to try and take some decent photos on it. I went online to find a one day course (this is just a hobby after all) that would go through the theory and give us an opportunity to then go out and put our lessons in to practice. I did the old google search and a few options around Brisbane came up. I selected Photogenius who are currently running lessons from the Ship Inn at Southbank. The course is 8 hours and the time flies by.

I had a really great day there were 6 of us in the class and most of us hadn’t used our DSLR or mirrorless cameras. I’m using a Sony alpha 6000 which is a little entry level mirrorless camera. It’s very light and it came with a 16-50mm lens, I added a 55-200mm telephoto, both of which I got to try out. You learn about ISO, aperture and shutter speed in the morning and then the afternoon is practical. All in all it was a great day.

Here are some photo’s from yesterday.
