We still seem to have our body clocks set to work mode – we were both awake by 4:30 this morning. Stu went for a run to discover that the Botanic Gardens are closed until later in the morning so he ran around the park and still didn’t get close to the Opera House.
We had breakfast in the hotel – a surprise was we have one breakfast included in our room rate – we’ll find out tomorrow when we check out if we don’t. The restaurant is beautiful and has one dog friendly section.

The weather today has been perfect in the mid-high 20’s and not a cloud in sight. We decided to walk to the Paddington Markets which is about 3km from where we are staying – I tried to take some photos of the terrace houses from above but all I really got was the rooftops – I’ve included the photos anyway.

We pretty much killed Eric on the return walk – he hasn’t had that big a walk for a while and he hasn’t been eating so he probably doesn’t have a lot of energy. We went back to the hotel to “rest” and change into birkies rather than sneakers to go out to Bondi.
Sydney roads are very busy and a couple of intersections are very confusing especially up the end of Oxford Street – Bondi Road itself was crazy – parked cars blocking one lane, buses, people sick of waiting at intersections and two girls that decided that to cross a busy road you just walk out and wave at cars to stop when there is a pedestrian crossing 10m away.
We originally couldn’t find a park but as we set the navigation system for Surry Hills we went back along the beach and there was plenty of parking. Even though we had promised Eric no more walking we were off again. We crossed the road to the Farmers Market only to find that dogs are banned from NSW schools (it’s not an opinion, it’s the law the sign said). So the beach it was – we started about half way up the beach and walked down towards the South end – where we came up at Bondi Ink (reality TV watchers will understand) then walked back towards the car and had lunch at a great dumpling place.
We saw some blow up Quokkas (WA travel add) which we had to photograph – ok I had to photograph because Quokkas belong on a photo montage of Bondi. From there we headed back to the car to Surry Hills (Stu’s choice). The graffiti is by Mulga – he has some mugs he produced which I have a couple of.

Surry Hills has lots of trendy eateries but Stu thought there was an art community there last time we were here. I think we came across this when we walked from Surry Hills back to Oxford Street and closer to Darlinghurst – anyway Eric got to have a third walk – bringing his total to 16km today. He even ate dinner tonight and I think he is going to crash when we get back from dinner.
We are all very pooped now and can’t believe how lucky we were with the weather today. We just ran into Sam from Stu’s work and a couple he knows from West End they are all here for the opening party of the Archibald’s.
