We have been pretty exhausted the last couple of nights and I haven’t gotten around to the blog. The hotel we are staying at has really bad air conditioning – it is really loud and the pillow aren’t great. Stu got about 2 hours sleep last night as the air conditioner was way too loud (I forgot to turn it down to low). We are sitting at the QANTAS Club at the airport waiting for our flight home. How fast has three weeks gone.
Day 19
Today Stu and I went over to Raffles Place to get some Bacha Coffee to take home with us (we have been drinking instant for about 10 days now) so we are over Nescafe. After we bought some coffee, we walked over to the Singapore River and crossed to the other side (City Hall).
We went into the National Gallery of Singapore which is free for residents or pay for tourists. We decided to visit the gift shop rather than pay to go into the gallery. While Stu was browsing the gift shop I bought tickets f($28 SGD each) or everyone to go to the top of Marina Bay Sands. Our time slot was 3-5pm.

We did a bit of retail therapy at Funan, Bugis+ and Bugis Junction then headed back to the hotel to pick Craig up before catching a taxi over to Marina Bay Sands. Linsey, Molly, Alice and Luke were over at the Science and Technology Museum, so we saved them a trip back to the hotel to just have to go back to Marina Bay Sands.
We whisked up to the 55th or 56th floor where you get access to the walkway around Marina Bay Sands. The view is spectacular however, the part non-staying guests get to access is only about 100m around the northern end of the hotel and there is no shade, and you can’t even see the pool unless you go up to a viewing platform, lean out and then you can see the pool.

As it was very hot at 3 and the sun was very fierce, we were only up there for about 15 minutes. Once we got down, we left Jayenne and Peter to find some air conditioning at the Marina Bay Sands Shopping Centre while the rest of us went to Gardens By The Bay.
We bought tickets to both domes (now $53 SGD). They have an Avatar experience in the cloud dome. It was amazing although the turn me into an Avatar was a bit lame. They had all manner of creatures and plants from the movies around the dome.

We then proceeded to the flower dome which unfortunately wasn’t as good as it usual is as they were in the middle of changing the display over so there was a lot of stuff in pots. There was nothing outside the flower dome informing you of this before you purchase the tickets.
After the domes, Stu and I were a bit pooped and decided to go back and join Jayenne and Peter at Marina Bay Sands. The others did the skywalk and stayed for the light show. Stu and I went to Le Noir and had cocktails while the sun set. They had a live band for a little while who asked if it was anyone’s birthday – we said it was Stu’s (to make up for 2019) so they sung him Happy Birthday. We stayed for the Marina Bay Sands lightshow at 8 then headed back to the hotel very exhausted.

Day 20
Stu and struggled to get going this morning, but we were eventually caffeinated (instant) then headed out for a walk.
We waked down to Lavendar then cam back along Jalan Besar where we found a hand made Pao café. We had the most amazing fresh BBQ Pork Buns this morning. They were little morsels but fresh and steaming hot. Each one was only $1 SGD.

We ended up having breakfast with Linsey and Craig this morning. Stu thinks he is coming down with something and felt like something a little western this morning. We ended up at a pancake restaurant in the mall across the road from our hotel. I had a two stack of blueberry pancakes with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream – a very indulgent but delicious breakfast.
We caught the MRT with Linsey and Craig to Bugis Street. Linsey wanted to get a couple of dresses and I wanted to get some souvenirs. After we got what we wanted we walked over the Kampung Galam (Kampung Glam) where we said hello to Jayenne and Peter who were people watching from a very nice little licenced bar (there aren’t many in the predominantly Muslim area). We wandered back to the MRT where we left Linsey and Craig at Little India Station for us to walk back to the motel.
Long story short after we’ve showered and got our van (saves everyone some money) we are now at the airport. Jayenne and Peter let us access their room so we could clean up before we got here. We are now sitting in the club enjoying some light snacks and a cocktail or two before our flight home. We have had an amazing time but I think we are both ready to get home and see our boy.
