Today we are leaving at 8 to head to Penida for our east island tour. While Stu was out running I caught up with our administrative stuff – I am very happy with the exchange rates we’re getting from BankWest and HSBC (small plug).
I have just found out that I can use my pencil & scribble function in Safari so feeling very happy about that!
We met Putu at the activity desk at 8 am and then we headed over to the Yellow bridge where we were put on a little inter-island boat over to Nusa Penida. The trip was pretty quick and relatively smooth. We met Comma (not his real name but he told us that so we could pronounce it) who was going to be our driver for the day.
The east coast is very rugged and ⛰️, and the drive to diamond beach took about an hour and a half. As we drove along the road we could see the Gili Islands and by the time we got to diamond beach we could see the volcano on Lombok.
Diamond beach is split into two I can’t remember what the other side was called but they were reminiscent of Klingkung on the west side of the island. Both beaches are do not swim beaches and are only accessible by lots of stairs. Lots of people were going up and down the stairs, but at least no one was swimming.
After the beaches we went to the treehouse. This was very touristy but the view was worth it, I thought the climb back up the cliff was going to kill me! We had an early lunch at a restaurant @ the end of the driveway pretty much in a building site but the food was traditional and quite nice.

We had a long drive back to the boat (goodbye Lombok views), and got back to Lembongan tired and in need of a 🏊♂️ – tomorrow we head back to Sanur by fast boat.
