I’ve dove it again and I’ve been a bit lazy and I haven’t got to my blog on Friday and Saturday. Mind you, it was a little hot yesterday and we were all pretty tired when we got home from Ubud.
After Stu and Christopher went for a run, we met Stephanie, Gabrielle, David and Christopher for a swim and then breakfast. Today (22/12) we are off to Ubud. We are heading to Villa Nautilus which is about a 15 minute drive out of Ubud, we have a driver booked for 1pm.
We went for a walk down the main road of Sanur and did a little bit of shopping and then we walked along the beach and stopped for a cool drink. While it isn’t super hot the sun has a hell of a bite to it, and it really saps you. David got their last cold coconut so the rest of us had gelato lol. Stu had the dragon fruit sorbet so he was a happy camper.
We grabbed lunch near the hotel but they took forever to cook the meal so we had to eat very quickly to get back to the hotel in time for the van. I think the trip to Ubud was pretty uneventful, however I wouldn’t know as I fell asleep for the whole trip.
The villas is backed up by a little river and has rice paddies out the front, it has 6 bedrooms all with bathrooms and a large open area opening on to the pool. While it is a long way out of Ubud it has lots of little restaurants around and you can use Indonesia’s Uber called Grab to bring food to you (the Wises gave this a whirl yesterday) with some bubble tea.
We tried dinner at a little Warung down the road from the villa, they even had a proper wood fired pizza oven – I should have given that a whirl.
On Saturday we headed into Ubud for a few hours. We are not going near the Monkey Forest this time! We wandered around Ubud for a few hours, I may have found cinnamon buns and Bali chocolate, before we had lunch at Ibu Oka. We also visited the little walking street but the sun had a real bite to it so we headed back to the Villa where we hit the pool and chilled. The drive out of Ubud was quite off putting as the traffic was terrible.
Spa day tomorrow.
