Today is Spa day. We started our day with a walk through the streets around the villa and then came back for our breakfast. Breakfast at the villa today included Balinese options with some sticky rice including sticky rice with pumpkin 🎃🤢yes I am a bit of a drama queen. I enjoyed the sticky rice cakes with palm sugar syrup and coconut and even the black sticky rice, just not the one with pumpkin.
After breakfast we chilled for a while as we weren’t being picked up until 11am to head to the spa. We chilled in the pool which is looking much better today.
Stu isn’t able to come with us unfortunately as he is having some issues with his skin from the heat and the chlorine from the pools, so he is going to have a relaxing day and explore the rice paddies around the villa.
The car took us into Ubud, again the traffic was pretty bad and in the end we got out and walked as we got caught behind a cremation procession. We walked up to the spa with Gabrielle leading us to our destination. We were very early so we decided to have lunch at the restaurant in front of the spa. Me Me’s Warung was a cute little establishment and the guy out front was very friendly, the unfortunate part was the speed of service.
Our spa booking was 2 and at 12 we thought we had plenty of time to get some drinks and food before our massages. How wrong were we drinks took an hour (my banana milkshake took 10 minutes the rest took ages). At 1:20 we followed up on the ETA of our lunch and we were told we would be late for our massage. By 1:40 the Greek salad and a serve of spring rolls came, then the fried rice the the burger, so 5 of us shared three meals and cancelled the ones that hadn’t been made yet (I had hoped to try the Nasi Campur).
Thankfully the spa was awesome. I can tell you a bubble massage is an experience you need to try! The hot and cold baths were also something you can only experience – we don’t know how they got the cold so cold.
we got back to the house and rewarded ourselves with a high end dinner at Kaukau, and I think we all have decided that will be where we have our final dinner on Wednesday.
