day 11 temples and coffee

Today has been designated as a tour day. It started as just going to coffee to including temples and rice paddies.

The morning walk this morning included the whole Wise family and Stu and I. It was another beautiful morning and the mountains were all visible as we walked through the rice paddies behind the villas.

We were being picked up at 9 so we had a quick breakfast (toast, eggs and fruit) and then the driver turned up. We’d asked for a mini van but unfortunately a car turned up which was a bit squishy for 6 adults.

Our first stop was Goa Gajah or the elephant caves. We ended up paying for a guide who took us through the whole complex which was originally Buddhist and then was converted to Hinduism.

We moved on to Titra Empal a water temple. There were so many Eat, Pray Love people that there was a big wait to bathe in the water. I think Christopher was half serious about wanting to bathe in the waters. I think it was very insincere when foreigners do the whole hands clasped praying in the holy waters.

From here we headed to Bali Pulina the coffee plantation. The tour was pretty good and the coffees all tasted pretty nice (except Ginseng). I may have bought a few things to bring home.

Lunch and dinner were a bit of a disaster so not going to mention the wait at lunch or the food that night (my rendang was very salty and Stephanie didn’t enjoy her snapper of deep fried banana) so no restaurant names here.
