Langkawi – Day 6

Another non-planned day in paradise today. Langkawi is really very sleepy and feels a little like Lembongan and Sanur in Indonesia. Other than Kuah Town, everywhere is so quiet with nothing opening until at least 11. You would think by now we would remember that but we continue to be surprised by it.

Today we are driving around to the cable car and then on to Temurun Waterfall and Sandy Skulls Beach.

The cable car goes to the top of Gunung Machinchang the second highest peak in Langkawi. We bought Stu a ticket to go to the top and walk the sky bridge. I looked at how it climbs next to the cliff and decided this was not for me.

Stu went up to the top and walked on to the sky bridge. He said it was a lot higher than he thought and he decided not to cross the bridge but only go part way. The bridge is about 700m above sea level. You can normally get down to it from the top cable car station by tram but it was out of service today so Stu had to walk down.

While Stu was on the cable car I went to the 3D art expo. It was a little hard taking photos by yourself so I just took photos of the artwork. While I was there they had a laser light show which was pretty spectacular.

Once Stu was back we headed to Temurun Waterfall. The waterfall is over at Datai beach. There wasn’t really a lot of water flowing over the falls today – it is still the dry season. The rainy season starts at the end of this month. We had a wade (Stu had a dip) in the top pool then headed back to the car. The path is pretty eroded, there must have been a landslide at some point.

We drove around to the Datai Beach resort but this is private property so we had to head back. We stopped at Sandy Skulls Beach which is in front of an abandoned resort.

We had a late lunch of satay before we headed back to the hotel for a quick dip then out to the night markets. We tried the satay cooked freshly then headed to our usual spot at Cenang for dinner. The night markets don’t have anywhere to sit to eat, the food truck place at Cenang has seats.
