Today is our first full day in Canada we are going to be here until the 21st then we are on an Alaska Cruise for 7 days. We must have been pretty tired last night as we were both asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow.
We met Linsey and Molly at 8 and then we were off. Lots of walking planned for today.
We walked down Burrard Street to the bay/harbour and it happens to be that Canada Place is at the end of Burrard Street. Canada Place is where the cruise ships all dock. There was a Holland America ship in the port the Koningsdam, which is the sister ship of the Nieuw Amsterdam which we will be cruising on.

We were chatting to a lady selling hop on hop off bus tickets and we asked where was somewhere really nice to eat, she suggested De Dutch which was on the water. This place serves Dutch style pancakes which are thinner than normal pancakes but thicker than a crepe. I hade their savoury sausage and egg pancake and Stu had the de bakon and eggs which came with French toast.

After a very filling breakfast we kept walking around to Stanley Park. Molly wanted to hire bikes and ride around Stanley Park which turned out to be a great idea as it is a long way around the park. We hired our bikes and rode to the totem poles, then we continued around with all of the other people on bikes. it was a very nice Saturday morning weather wise so there were lots of people on the paths.

After we dropped the bikes off, we caught an uber over to Granville Island markets for lunch. We had Mexican at Alimentaria Mexicana a restaurant Stu had seen on Instagram before we left Australia. The food was delicious we had the pork tacos and the beef tacos. Stu, Linsey and Molly had Margaritas while I had their version of a pina colada.

We walked around the markets and found Stuart’s bakery which sold Nanaimo Pies which is a caramel slice but instead of caramel has a type of custard in the middle. Because it was such a nice day, everyone in Vancouver seemed to be at the markets so it was very busy. Their Fringe Festival is also on at the moment which meant there was lots happening.

After we got back from Granville Island we had a little rest (I called Australia, my overseas sim deleted my Australian eSim so I will need to resolve this when I get home as I don’t have an Australian sim).
We walked down Davie Street (it is raining so we borrowed umbrellas) and came across a road accident – car v bus stop which had a lot of police attending it. We had dinner at a lovely sushi restaurant which was just around the corner from our hotel and finished it with gelato from a little place up the road.
