We are back on the ferry today and heading back to the mainland. We had to be out of the Airbnb before 10 am so we were all up fairly early and ready to head off by a little after 9am.
The drive up to Nanaimo was just under two hours, so we had a little bit of time to kill before the ferry when we got there. We had a little walk around Nanaimo and visited Red’s Bakery in Nanaimo. It has won the award for best Nanaimo for a number of years, so of course we had to try one. We got ours cut in 2 pieces and Stu asked for a fork or spoon – don’t do this! We were advised that the bar was a finger food and we couldn’t have a spoon (so were the next couple behind us).
After a wander around the picturesque main street we headed over to the ferry terminal to wait for our ferry.
The trip was pretty uneventful, however about 30 minute in we saw a pod of Orcas playing off the side of the ferry. We saw another lone Orca closer to Vancouver but it was a long way away.

We drove up to Whistler which is just over an hour from Horseshoe Bay, stopping at a Walmart so that we could grab a few bits and pieces. There was a section of the road closed for road works which was a bit tricky to navigate as the witches hats were quite close together and the trucks coming the other way were definitely not doing the posted 60km/h.
We arrived in Whistler about 5:30 and have settled into our apartment, taken a walk into the village and had a pasta dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Tomorrow we will take the cable car up the Mountain.
