It’s our only full day in Whistler today so Stu and I were up early (as usual) and off for a walk. We followed a path called the Spearhead Trail which wound back up in to the Mountain. When it turned to dirt we got a little nervous (there are bear warning signs everywhere) so when we got to a sign that said ski out, we followed it back to the street.

After breakfast is was time to head up Blackcomb. As it’s their Autumn season they have one set of gondolas down for maintenance, so the only way up the mountain is to go up Blackcomb and go across on the Peak to Peak to Whistler.
We got to the top with only a minor freak out by myself (I really don’t like it when people move in the gondola). It was beautiful up there. We had a view the whole way back across the valley and could see all of the lakes that are dotted around the Whistler area.

There are these little creatures call Hoary Marmots at the top of Whistler, they are foraging before they hibernate over winter. They have a high-pitched whistle that tells the others there is danger coming.

Molly, Linsey and Stu did the Peak to Peak gondola across the 4.4km stretch between the mountains. When they got to the other side they decided to do the peak chairlift up to a bridge between the two peaks of Whistler. Apparently, the chairlift was a little scary in parts. I waited on the other side and people watched (I didn’t have the nerve to do the Peak to Peak.

We went down to Whistler Village for lunch and I finally had my first hot dog. We also had a side of Poutine. I do enjoy a good chips with gravy! We wandered around the shops and bought some souvenirs. We even visited Cows Ice cream (there are lots of people walking around with their merch on) I tried the Cownadian Maple which was delicious. I have a feeling they are probably going to be in Jasper as well so it may become habit forming.
Stu and I headed to the Fairmont which is down the hill from us, to go to Fairmont Fridays which is like a happy hour in the garden with a live act playing music (the poor guy kept having to say my name is Jake and I’m with you until 7 and I take requests). We both had the $10++ raspberry margarita. Molly joined us a little later and we headed to Harajuku for Japanese.
