Canada and alaska day 1

Today is literally the day that never ends. We were up early on the 5th of September (my usual sleep issues) so we had a walk then finished getting ready to head to the airport.

Alice picked us up at 7:45 so we could be at the airport by 8:35, then we waited for our flight to Fiji. Going through Immigration and security is so quick now. The flight was very non-eventful. As we came into Fiji, we flew over some beautiful islands, it might be worth a visit at some point in the future.

My plan for Fiji Airport was to buy us lounge access at $90 each but when we got there we could only buy it 2 hours before our departure. Instead of the Lounge we ended up eating Burger King and people watching for the 4 and a half hours we were in Fiji.

Our second flight left Fiji pretty much on time. We had paid for Bula Room so we were supposed to have a spare seat next to us. About 3am Fiji time we woke up to find a guy sitting in the spare seat. He told us he’d been sitting in the wrong seat. I think what actually happened was he, his wife, daughter and her grandmother wanted to have a seat each and he saw ours was free and got the stewards to approve him moving. I’ll be writing to Air Fiji to ask for the money back that we paid to have a spare seat because either they ticketed him in 48C or their staff moved him there.

We got to the USA and it took us 2 hours to get through Immigration giving us 20 minutes to walk (more like run) to Terminal 6 with our bags and get checked in for our flight to Vancouver. As I am writing this we are in the Maple Leaf Lounge enjoying a soft drink and a bit of a relax. By the way it is still the 5th of September (3:48pm to be precise) and we have one more flight to go. After 26 hours from departure to arrival in Vancouver we are going to need a good nights sleep.

We’ve finally arrived in Vancouver. The flight felt like forever even though it was only 3 hours. We’ve checked into our hotel, The Burrard, which is home for the next 3 nights. We said a quick hello to Molly and Linsey then off to bed.

And it was still 5/9/25!
